Who goes there?

Sea Gull

"Now the main event that made 1902 so memorable occurred just before Christmas, for that is when the Barque Inverlochy, under full sail, ran foul of the foaming rocks known as Ingoldsby Reef.

Map showing where the Inverlochy came to rest on Ingoldsby reef Held fast in the reef's grip, the Inverlochy remained a major topic of speculation amongst the locals. It was also a source of much interest to the many sightseers who arrived on coaches and bicycles to gaze at the stranded vessel.

Now I can give you a firsthand account of all the happenings for I was there on the spot, remember. But should you want to check on any of the details, they can all be found in the pages of the Geelong Advertiser from December 1902 and on for many months in 1903. For there is nothing fictional about this tale.

But as for me well, that is just another mystery for you to ponder. However, I am not going to say anymore now, for my story begins on the next page."
