High-profile Identities set to Visit Geelong4 March 2005 Geelong Regional Library Corporation announced today that it has secured several popular identities to visit Geelong in coming months. The following people will be conducting book readings, answering questions, signing books and holding media interviews in Geelong. GREGORY DAVID ROBERTSVisiting 28th April: Melbourne-born Roberts has just sold the film rights to Shantaram, a book based on his extraordinary life, for US $2.5 million. Oscarnominated actor Johnny Depp has signed on to play the lead role in this book, with film production commencing in 2006. Roberts will be the house guest of Depp in June this year, staying at Depps mansion in the Bahamas while they work on the screenplay. GEORGE NEGUSVisiting 9th & 10th June: George Negus is a veteran journalist, well-known for his current affairs work on 60 Minutes, Foreign Correspondent and Dateline. He is the author of numerous books, including Across the Red Unknown. BEN KOZELVisiting 9th & 10th June: In addition to being shortlisted for Cleos Batchelor of the Year in 2002, Ben is the author of several books detailing his exploits while trekking overseas, including Three Men in a Raft and Five Months in a Leaky Boat. Kylie Warne, Activities and Promotions Officer for Geelong Regional Library Corporation, says the organisation has worked hard to bring some exciting and popular identities to the region.
