GREAT OCEAN RD ROADWORKS
Report as at Friday 4 March 2005 for period 5/3/05 - 11/03/05
The list below shows the works planned for the coming week. Please note that, in addition to the works listed, other maintenance work will sometimes be required for unforeseen events such as landslips or fallen trees.
Motorists are requested to take notice of roadwork signing and obey all traffic instructions.

| Work: | Tree trimming and asphalt works |
| Traffic Conditions: | traffic will be restricted to one lane at a time during construction. Expect delays of up to five minutes |
| Timing: | work expected to start later in the week and will continue for one weeks. |
| Location | Between Wye River and Apollo Bay Township (various locations) |
| Work: | Repairs being carried out to rebuild road shoulders damaged by landslips |
| Traffic Conditions: | traffic will be restricted to one lane at a time during construction. Expected delays of up to five minutes |
| Timing: | Work has started and is expected to take a further two weeks to complete |
| Location | Kennett River to Skenes Creek. (Works may be undertaken at several locations at a time between these two locations). |
| Work: | road shoulder sealing and guardrail installation |
| Traffic Conditions: | the contractor is currently working on the sea
side of the road. Traffic will be restricted to one lane at
a time during construction. Expect delays of up to 10 minutes. There may be loose stone, rough surfaces and speed restrictions in this area. |
| Timing: | This work is expected to take a further 13 weeks to complete. |
| Location | Between Grey River and Kennett River |
| Work: | guardrail installation |
| Traffic Conditions: | traffic will be restricted to one lane at a time during construction. Expect delays of up to 10 minutes |
| Timing: | Work has started and is expected to take a further 11 weeks to complete |
| Location | from Wild Dog Creek to Marriners Lookout Road (East of Apollo Bay) |
| Work: | road reconstruction |
| Traffic Conditions: | traffic will be restricted to one lane at a time
during works. Expect delays of up to 10 minutes. During construction
there will be an unsealed surface with loose stones and no linemarking. Speed restrictions are in place 24 hours per day |
| Timing: | Work has started and is expected to take up to a further three weeks to complete |
| Location | between Lavers Hill and Lower Gellibrand |
| Work: | tree trimming and clearing following storm damage |
| Traffic Conditions: | minor delays expected at various locations throughout section as crews clear away damaged and dangerous trees following recent storm damage |
| Timing: | work is ongoing and expected to take up to a further one week to complete |
| Location | between Port Campbell and Peterborough |
| Work: | road resurfacing (sprayed seal) |
| Traffic Conditions: | delays of up to 10 minutes are expected during roadworks. After the works is completed there may be loose stones and no linemarking on the road for a short period. Reduced speed limits and warning signs will be in place. |
| Timing: | the work is expected to be completed within the week (weather depending) |
| Location | Beech Forest Road (Turtons Track) |
| Work: | road is closed to through traffic between Aire Valley Road and Forest-Apollo Bay Road due to land slips arising from recent storms. Road may be closed for some time as specialist advice is sought and repairs arranged. |
| Traffic Conditions: | traffic is being detoured around section. Use alternate access. |
| Timing: | the road is expected to re-opened in approximately four to six weeks, weather permitting. |
Please note:
Barwon Water is installing pipelines at the eastern end of Apollo Bay township. VicRoads has been advised that this work should not impact on traffic flow. However please be aware that there may occasionally be loose stones, clay or other material on the road surface where trucks are entering and exiting. Inland routes

Motorists are advised:
- the Great Ocean Road is not expected to be closed at any time due to these works
- due to the narrowness of the available roadside, some lane closures will be necessary
- roadworks may be undertaken at various locations along the road and road users may be delayed more than once during their trip
- no work is planned on weekends, but roadworks speed limits may apply on weekends as well as week days.
