Friday 10th, October Inconsistent 2ft+ waves with moderate NW winds ahead of an o'night W/NW change. Saturday 11th, October Strong but somewhat inconsistent SW groundswell providing 4-5ft waves at times. Expect long breaks between sets. Winds likely to be light and variable. Sunday 12th, October Easing SW groundswell with very inconsistent 2-3ft+ waves, slightly smaller into the a'noon. Light N'ly winds freshening during the day and tending NW. Monday 13th, October Inconsistent 2-3ft waves with freshening NW winds. Chance for a gusty W'ly change during the day, and an associated rapid increase in SW swell (more so Tues). Swellnet

Since 1969, Alcoa has operated an open-cut brown coal mine and a power station in Anglesea that provides 41% of the electricity required to operate our Point Henry smelter in Geelong. For several weeks now, the Alcoa Anglesea Power Station has been preparing for major maintenance and cleaning works that are occurring on site throughout April. The power station will come off line on 1 April.Known as “the outage”, these works are part of our standard operations and are scheduled to occur every four years. During this time we employ over 300 additional contractors to join our 110 permanent employees on site. Work will occur on site in shifts, 24 hours a day, seven days a week...story>>

Winchelsea Skate Park Launch kicks off Youth Week

Members of the general community, young people and Surf Coast Shire representatives will celebrate the completion of Surf Coast's seventh skate park at Winchelsea on Saturday 9 April. The 11.30am Winchelsea event is timed to lead in to Surf Coast Shire's National Youth Week Event, HAGAS (Have A Go At Something), which will follow the launch at 1pm in Torquay. Coogoorah Park benefits from enhancement program

A PEDESTRIAN bridge will be removed, new jetties built and pathways renewed under a major and ongoing enhancement program for Anglesea's unique waterside Coogoorah Park. The bridge, adjacent to River Reserve Road and playground will be dismantled later this month as it is structurally unsound, with access points partially submerged in water. Surrounding pathways will then be re-gravelled and raised above the high watermark to provide safe and easy pedestrian access to a recreational space that is bordered by the Anglesea River and parkland...story>>

Deans Marsh Children's Service to begin 12 month Trial

FROM 27 April, families in the Deans Marsh district will have regular access to a maternal and children's health service, located in the centre of the township. The new monthly service will offer childhood development assessments, maternal health advice and referral/support services, from a trained maternal and child health nurse. Safety – It’s No Accident! An injury free outage is Alcoa’s first priority. Just after midday on Tuesday April 12, the emergency sirens rang out loud and clear across the Anglesea site. Over 350 people on site that day made their way to the designated emergency evacuation point underneath the water tower. Thankfully, in this instance the sirens had sounded as part of an emergency evacuation drill. Graham Nixon, Emergency Response Co-ordinator, said the exercise was a valuable learning exercise, “It tells us that everyone on site has been able to hear the emergency siren and that people also know what they need to do in this situation”...story>>

An Epic Walk Along Victoria's Coastline Ends

Mr Lynn Murrell today became the first person to complete a continuous solo walk along Victoria's 2000 kilometre coastline when he walked into Cape Howe on the New South Wales border this morning. Lynn began his journey, named Walk the Talk, at Nelson on the South Australian border on January 4 this year. He has walked an average of 20 kilometres a day, carrying a third of his body weight, for 103 days, to complete his epic journey...story>>
