Great Ocean Road Roadworks

A two day running event culminating in the Great Ocean Road Marathon is being run on the 14th and 15th May. The Road will be closed to through traffic in Apollo Bay township and for east bound traffic between Apollo Bay and Skenes Creek on 14 May 2005 from 7.00 am to approx 3.00 pm. The Great Ocean Road will be closed to all traffic between Lorne and Apollo Bay from 7.00am to 3.00 pm on Sunday 15 May 2005. Detours will be in place via Colac....story>>
Why is the Power Station Not Back on Line Yet?

One answer to this question is: asbestos. That “new-age”building material of the 60’s has proven to be an obstacle during this outage. With the power station being built over 35 years ago, it has long been known that a lot of asbestos was used in construction. A three year program to remove as much asbestos from the station as possible was implemented in the run up to the outage. Unfortunately we have continued to discover unexpected asbestos in work areas over the last week, which has required safe removal to protect workers’health...story>>

SURF Coast Council is soon to complete an $800,000 upgrade of gravel roads, with more than 50 kms of unmade thoroughfares to be resheeted by the end of this financial year. Anglesea Power Station Back on-line

The outage achieved technical completion on Wednesday May 11 with all systems operating and power generation synchronised with the state grid. With the project running several days over time, it has been a huge effort, with long hours put in and we appreciate everyone’s hard work. However, shortly after this milestone a tube leak was detected in the economiser rear pass wall, resulting in the power station being turned off. Because the power station is over 35 years old and several tens of kilometres of tubing make up the economiser wall it is common to discover tube leaks as part of getting the power station back on line...story>>
