NEW EXHIBITION: Suck - voices from the interior

Date: 30 April - 29 May

Artists associated with the Faculty of Art and Design at Monash University (Caulfield campus) explore the parent-infant experience. Suck includes works by Catherine Bell, Peta Clancy, Joanne Constantinides, Antonietta Covino-Beehre, Julie Goodwin, Pauline Lavoipierre, Carolyn Lewens, Karyn Linder, Sarah Metzner, Elaine Miles, Robert Nelson, Shini Pararajsingham, Heather Shimmen, Konrad Winkler and Sophia Xeros-Constantinides.

Captured in colour - rare photographs from the First World War

Date: until 29 May

A major exhibition of French and Australian colour photographs that provide a glimpse of the Western Front in the First World War. Includes images by French photographers (Paul Castelnau, Fernand Cuville, Albert Samama-Chikli, Jules Gervais-Courtellemont and Léon Gimpel) as well as by two notable Australians, Frank Hurley and Hubert Wilkins. In conjunction with Captured in Colour, paintings of Australians in the same war by Septimus Power, from the Gallery's own collection, will be hung in the foyer.

An Australian War Memorial Travelling Exhibition

Understand your war treasures - bring in your memorabilia

On Saturday 21 May from 1.30pm to 4.30pm the Gallery will host an Australian War Memorial event - Understand your war treasures in conjunction with the exhibition Captured in Colour - rare photographs from the First World War. Bring in any wartime memorabilia you have at home, such as family medals, badges, photographs, letters, diaries and other treasures that you would like to know more about or how to care for. A curator, conservator and historian from the Australian War Memorial, Canberra will answer your questions.

For safety reasons, no firearms or munitions will be allowed.

Book Launch - Blister Pack

David McCooey, the award-winning Geelong writer and a senior lecturer in literary studies at Deakin University, is the author of a new collection of poetry, Blister Pack, published by the UK-Australian publishers, Salt. The renowned Australian poet, Chris Wallace Crabbe, will launch Blister Pack on Saturday 14 May at 2.00pm.

Copies of the book will be on sale on the day.
