LARGER-than-life sculptures depicting contorted
and vibrant high-gloss racing helmets are the focus of the
latest exhibition, May 2 31, at Torquays Surfworld
Jan Juc artist and surf board shaper, Josh
Dowling, says the six images, made from foam and fibre glass,
invite the viewer to consider the pace at which we live
our lives, particularly with the advent of technologies
such as the internet, email and mobile phone.
Dowling wonders about the impact of these
technologies their power to fast-track our lives
- and urges others to ponder the same question.
A shaper of surfboards, Dowling, 34, has completed
a Fine Arts degree at the Victorian College of the Arts
and has held several exhibitions in Melbourne.
This is his first exhibition in his hometown.
