About Us

Anglesea & District Community House (ADCH) plays a vital role in the social, educational and cultural life of our community. We have a variety of programs, activities and services involving a diverse range of people from our community.

People come to the house to meet, share ideas, learn new skills or just drop in for a cuppa and chat. ADCH is an accredited provider of Adult Community & Further education services. The Adult Education service employs highly qualified and skilled tutors. We deliver quality training in a caring and supportive environment.

The house receives funding from Dept. of Human Services, Adult Community and Further Education and the Surf Coast Shire. A community based Committee of Management manages the house.

The Committee of Management of the Community House advises that all the Community House policies are open to inspection by the community. Ask at the House to see them when you next visit.

Adult Education in the Community

As an accredited provider of Adult Community & Further education, the ADCH holds a series of courses each term, ranging from general interest subjects through to accredited training courses. Hospitality Courses for Year 11 & 12


Getting Skills for Casual Work in Hospitality

The Gordon Institute of TAFE, in partnership with the Surf Coast Community House Network is holding a series of 3 day workshops aimed at helping school leavers obtain work in Hospitality during the school vacation & while continuing with further studies.

Commences - Monday November 28th 2005 at the Anglesea & District Community House, 5 McMillan Street, Anglesea from 9am to 4pm.

Course consists of:

  • Responsible Service of Alcohol
  • Follow Workplace Hygiene Procedures
  • Tips on getting work in a hospitality venue
  • Practical training in taking orders for food & drinks,
  • Coffee Making, Pouring Beer, Mixing Drinks & Making Cocktails

Total cost including training materials & workbooks is $127.

Bookings are essential as numbers are limited.

Time & Place of training - Surf Coast Group

Training will commence at gam sharp on Monday November 28th, 2005 & finish at 4pm.

Groups will meet at Anglesea Community House, 5 McMillan Street, Anglesea.

The program runs over 3 full days with the practical component being delivered on Tuesday, November 29th.

Depending on the number of enrolments, the group may be split into smaller classes for the practical training.

Practical training will be held at either of the following venues, depending on numbers:

  • Bells Beach Hotel, 33 Stuart Ave, Jan Juc
  • Cumberland Lorne Resort, 150 Mountjoy Parade, Lorne

For the practical training days, sensible shoes with a non-slip sole must be worn. No thongs, sandals or open ended footwear will be permitted.

There will be a one-hour break for lunch while participants will need to bring a pen and notebook. Workbooks & course notes will be provided.

Early Enrolment is recommended as spaces are limited. Inclusion in the course will be limited to those students who have fully paid enrolments at the time of the course being declared fully booked.

Chain Youth Services provides an experienced Youth Worker who deals with issues such as mediation, job-search, accommodation, health and education.

  Is a service providing emergency food relief to people in the community experiencing difficulties.
  The Community House can be your key to information. When you don't know where to start with a particular problem/query, our staff have access to information that can enable you to find an answer.
  Meeting space is available at affordable community rates. There is access to a photocopier, fax machine, E-Mail / Internet facilities, TV, video, overhead projector, whiteboard, laminator, book binder, scanner, carpeted throughout with facilities.
  Childcare is provided for children from toddlers to pre-school age. A program of age appropriate activities is provided incorporating indoor and outdoor sessions with two trained staff.
  • Sessons run on Mondays - Thursdays from 9.30 - 2.30pm.
  • Concessions are available for course attendees upon request.
