Anglesea Bowling Club Inc.

Cameron Road, Anglesea

This Club has a friendly atmosphere. It has about 180 members, a few more men than ladies. When counting last year, there were some 108 volunteers, 60% of the membership. It conducts bowls on its two Greens on most days of the week from early September each year until the end of April. Events include Social, Pennant, special Tournament and Club Competition games. There are a number of Coaches available free to both new and more established members.

Administratively, all positions are elected; the Committee of Management, consisting of President, Secretary, Treasurer and four other members has a central part to play in the successful running of the Club. Each of the Men's and the Ladies' Sections has its own Committee and these are supported by Selection, Match, Tournament, Greens, Finance, Catering, Social, Bar, Property, Gardens and Cleaning groups.

Wednesday is the maintenance day, but on each of the other days of the week there are bowling adventures. And adventures they are too ! !
Sunday afternoons sees many bowlers participating in 2 bowl Triples events with good prize money available as there is always a sponsor allocated to these days
Monday has traditionally been Men's day and it's in mufti. Mostly, players should be dressed in 'whites', but not on Monday afternoon. Once each month, there is a sponsored whole day event.
Tuesday is Ladies' Pennant day
Thursdays social bowls
Fridays sees the Coaches in action and also quite a number of the Club Competitions for both men and ladies
Saturday is Men's Pennant day with some social bowls as well.

Details of all of these events can be viewed in the Club's Fixture booklet which is available at the Club or from personnel listed below.

Social happenings occur during the season. The Club is licensed and so it is a central focus for many people who live in the area. There are dinners, dances, fairs, efforts for deserving causes.

Members of the community are encouraged to enquire about bowling whether it be as a Full, Limited, Social or as a Country member. You can visit the Club and receive coaching (we have some sets of bowls available for you) to see if you like the experience. If you are an experienced bowler, you are welcome to enquire and join if you wish.
